Is everyone aware of the brilliance of Alfred? There's always some debate about "Isn't it a glorified Spotlight?" but the answer is "No!" It's a whole lot more than that. It makes working, organising and controlling your Mac a dream!
A free download, but all the best features are unlocked with the £15 PowerPack, which I recommend! It unlocks 'Workflows" which are brilliant. For instance, I merely have to type 'movie Skyfall' and it loads Chrome to show me the trailer on youtube, (no Flash for me so bypasses Safari) and opens Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB on the correct review pages - it's just info in a flash! v2 has just been released and it's jolly good indeed!
