Occasionally there are still some of the Mid to Late 2011 Model iMacs on the 
Apple refurb store at 
http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/imac although they are 
getting rarer. The new thin iMacs are ok and pretty reliable although only the 
27" is upgradeable and even then, only the RAM.

Just an opinion, but the slimline optical drives are possibly the most 
unreliable piece of kit I've ever come across - even worse than SyQuest Drives 
and that's saying something.

I always use a 5.25" External Optical drive when I need one.
