Seagate make a number of alternative interfaces for some of their portable disc drives. The interfaces are not cheap, and you do not get the speed increase you might hope to largely because most portable external drives rotate slowly. Nevertheless, andy seagate disc that can have the connection removed (not the cable connection) can plug into these. I'd guess that the thunderbolt one runs about 5 times faster that usb 2.
Some smugglers may find this a helpful way forward, at least until SSD with a proper thunderbolt or usb 3 connection that actually runs from the mac becomes available. Maplin has these things in stock, or orderable, so you can check prices etc. Ranulph -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sussex Mac User Group" group.
