If you Gen Info one one of those files, you can tell it to open all pdfs
automatically with Preview (or Skim, a nifty pdf reader, or any other
one...)

Hi. A friend has just sent me an Adobe file and clicking on it
brings up a dialogue box saying that the application "Adobe Reader"
can't be opened. It worked fine until I installed Mavericks. Is
