I think of Pixelmator as primarily a paint (bitmap) program. Unless I’m mistaken, drawing (vector) is not its great strength.
If you want to draw, you will need a different program. I’ve been looking for one I like for some time now, and will be interested if there are good suggestions for you. Sam is (or used to be) a great fan of Pixelmator.
