Can't say I've had any problem with iMessage. But you do need to make sure that 
your various devices all share exactly the same set of phone numbers and email 
addresses as of they do not then you find that a message might appear on one 
device and not the others. 

Check Settings>Messages then Send & Receive to see which are included in each 
device.
