I dug out my old E160 but couldn't find a SIM. So I ended up buyng a new
modem (X230D) with a SIM but I thought that was better as this is for a
non-techie and the installer for the scripts for the E160 no longer
runs.
The installation went smoothly except that it doesn't actually work
(it did work then when I tested again, it didn't). It says connected but
no data actually travels (ie webpages don't load etc).
What's infuriating is that the Connection Manager installer doesn't
appear after you've installed it once. I removed it all to start again,
plugged in the dongle and - nothing. The same thing when I tested it on
my Mac Pro.
Does anyone know the manual settings for either of these (ie the dial-in
password and so on)? The O2 site doesn't have them, I just get the
installer manuals and so on which pretend the whole thing will work
without you doing much...
I remember Sam givivg me instructions with the E160 to bypass the
Connection Manager and go stragiht to the Network System prefs to do
this -- but don't think I have the settings any more, it's not been used
for years.
