I'm moving to somewhere that is without electric and also very sunny. Anyone had any experience with solar chargers, ideally for Macbook and iPhone but just iPhone will do for now, any recs guys?

I've tried this a lot in this country in 'high summer', sunny all day, with mediocre results - so take it seriously. These chaps have what looks like good kit

I've got a powergorilla and they are great for days away from leccy with iphones etc.

The small handheld built-in solar panel stuff doesn't really cut it on the whole but they can be useful for storing power. Often the chargers don't provide enough for the iPhones directly. Also, it means that the wear and tear of variable current goes on the portable battery rather than the phone battery.

And get nitfy with airplane mode when you're not using the iPhone -- it uses very little power when the radios (Bluetooth, wireless etc) are off.
