Thats a wow in my eyes. Just a rumour but sounds feasible. Imagine the

About time as the battery life of an iPhone, for me, are a real
inconvenience.
It's not about to do anything more than slow down the rate of battery
drain by a fraction. A panel the size of the iPhone would need about a
week to give it a charge. And do you really want to leave it lyingaround
in the sun becoming extremely hot?
You can get iPad cases that have a solar panel and a battery in it,
which only claims to give you a bit longer.
<memory lane> the PB 1400... you could a) run it purely from a RAM disk
b) get a cover for the lid that had a solar panel built in so it trickle
charged. I could get 6-8 hours out of the RAM disk with the hard drive
'put away' (what happened to that term?), and could never afford the
solar panel cover...
Be aware that fixed solar panels usually give the best charge (rather
than flexible ones) and that you can't (usually?) charge a MB battery,
but you can run it from an external one (bypassing the built-in one).
