Yes this link does look as though it is the same issue.

I have been able to borrow a windows PC and the drive was recognised by 
windows. I therefore transferred the data off the drive, reformatted the 
drive and put the content back onto it and it appears to be working fine on 
both Mac and Windows.

I would like to thank you for your assistance and inform you the issue is 
now resolved.
