Hello SMUGgers, My early 2009 MBP looks to be on the way out. There's a recurrent problem that I think will prove to be the logic board so that will be that.
So, I'm looking at replacements. I'd like to buy one new from Apple and max it out (dual ssd, max RAM). From what I can see of the Retinas, they all seem to have been put together with big blobs of solder, effectively stopping RAM upgrades, and with a proprietorial SSD, for which there is currently no after-market alternative. But they do still offer for sale the last of the non-retina MBP. Is this as upgradable as I need? If so, it looks like I should snap one up now before they are discontinued. What does SMUG think? Is it worth embracing the Retina and paying everything up front. Or is the last of the non-Retinas a good move in the situation?
