Hi Nigel

You might not have much luck restoring Apps from Time Machine as they generally
need an installer to place all the files in the correct support folders. Some
apps are more self-contained and can be restored direct to the Applications
folder if you hold down the alt key when clicking the time machine icon in the
menubar, select “Browse Other Backup Disks” and see if Time machine will then
show you the contents of that backup.

You might need to click on the name of your computer under the Devices section
in the Finder sidebar and browse from there. The backups will relate to a
separate drive so you’ll need to browse to that drive to start with.

Regards

Sam
