Can anyone advise? Recently my Time Machine backup to a WD MyBook Live drive
has gone disastrously wrong. I accidentally interrupted a backup just before it
finished and this caused warning messages from Time Machine telling me that it
would no longer make backups until a completely new backup was undertaken. (I
hadn't realised that this meant it would erase all my old backups!!!)
Since then I have attempted to carry out this big backup but the process (which
has taken a couple of days) halted without completing. I received no message
but perhaps the following may help those of you with the technical knowledge to
understand: This message appeared once:-
- "backup disk image "/volumes/Time Machine/Phil iMac.sparsebundle is already
in use"
My question is how can I correct either Time Machine? or WD My Book? to stop it
thinking that a backup is already happening? (This is what I take to be the
meaning of "already in use"). I have turned the WDMB off and then on again a
couple of times, without success. Backups begin and go on for hours then cease
without finishing...
