In the end (third attempt) it got through the Recovery Process. Now the
arduous process of not starting with a back-up (because I tried that,
something is hinky somewhere)...
thanks though. I didn't see that on the apple support pages. It's quite
amazing how many variations they found on holding down up to two
buttons;)
