A few days ago I had a problem with iMessage not working on my MBA. Spinning beachball every time I tried to open it. I had to exit by force quitting several times. Then the evening before my Apple genius appointment 2 nights ago I noticed a new message '1' on its icon in the Dock. I clicked. It told me I had force quit last time and did I want to open it. I went ahead and it opened straight away. No problems since and no idea why it’s working again. Posted as may be of marginal interest to someone. Nick
