Thanks Jason - a good plan, and thanks for the suggestion. I cloned my
hard drive and booted from that on USB3, and then updated to Yosemite
for the tests. Despite all I read in advance, I managed to get CS3
versions of Photoshop, Fireworks and Illustrator all running.

I'm thinking about the update from Mavericks to Yosemite but I wonder
about the compatibility of some old Adobe CS3 apps - specifically
Photoshop and Fireworks. So, I'm posting this in the hope someone's
tried running these? Google searches prove inconclusive so far.
I might decide to switch to Pixelmator but the latest version needs
Yosemite (so 'catch 22')
