Dear SMUGs
For a long time now my Time Machine has been working perfectly (A great
achievement, for it wasn’t always so..!)
Unhappily I have now received the dire message:-
"Time Machine completed a verification of your backups… To improve reliability,
Time Machine must create a new backup for you…”
The last time I received this message it wiped out all my past backups and it
then took one week to create a new one.
My questions are
1. Is there any way I can avoid this operation and keep my old backups?
2. Why did TM perform a verification?
3. Does the message imply that there is something wrong with my backup disk?

Phil
