As a postscript: Experienced the same, used the App Store updater on my MBP to go from .1 to .2 with no problem. Found the combo updater and tried to apply that to my 10.10.1 Service Disk which was 'incompatible.' Apparently the 'combo' will only update 10.10.0.
Undaunted, I downloaded the full 10.10.2 Installer, made an Installer Disk and tried that on my Service Disk. That will only install over 10.10.0 or earlier as well.
