Good morning, I have a MacBook Pro which is connected to a Cinema display when it’s at home. I often use earphones for making skype calls. I plug these into the laptop as there isn’t an audio jack on the display and for the last couple of days it’s been behaving oddly.
When the laptop is connected to the display using the audio jack has no effect - in other words the sound continues coming out of the display’s speakers. Using the volume control on the earphones works and the volume goes up and down normally although the sound is coming out of the display. When the laptop is used on its own plugging using the audio jack cuts the laptop speakers and the sound is diverted the the earphones. Originally I thought the plug might be faulty or that their might be something inside causing a problem but now I’m not so sure.
