*WWDC afterthoughts* The year following WWDC 2014 didn't inspire me to take an interest in WWDC 2015, but there's http://asciiwwdc.com/#wwdc-2015 and so on if I need it.
I haven't watched the 2015 keynote; one glance at Safari, on the day <http://web.archive.org/web/20150608193200/http://www.apple.com/osx/elcapitan-preview/#safari>, was enough for me to realise that there's still: - overemphasis on novelty, on change for the sake of change - disrespect for some of the essence of traditional OS X Human Interface Guidelines (HIG), guidelines that disappeared when Yosemite was released <https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-UC1Ejxmix1Q/Va1OSNgUyOI/AAAAAAAAAmw/JBT56dryfHc/s1600/Safari.png> Excitements around WWDC can cause presenters and audiences to overlook or ignore critical mistakes. Thankfully, no such mistakes by two people in 2014. Mike Stern, User Experience Evangelist, Apple: "… apps that use a Navigation Bar and have a title also do a really good job of telling you where you are. The title serves that purpose. …" – *Designing Intuitive User Interfaces* (WWDC 2014, session 211) Chris Dreessen, AppKit Software Engineer: "… This is a picture of Safari, and something you're going to notice about it is that the title of the window isn't there …" [image: 2015-07-06 22-49-08 screenshot.png] – *Adopting Advanced Features of the New UI of OS X Yosemite* (WWDC 2014, session 220) *More positively* http://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21581154 includes a few links relating to past WWDC events and keynotes. *Apple development and beyond* Back to Yosemite for a moment.
