I rang the Apple Store to ask if they wanted me to take it to them or send it back to WD - they said to bring it in. And exchanged it for another (different make as they no longer have the WD one) - £10 difference to pay. Which I think was excellent as the WD was a couple of years old. The new one is a 3TB LaCie porsche design .. hope it works OK!
