System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy > + button > add Macintosh HD > remove
it again
Or open Terminal and type in (does the same thing above) :
sudo mdutil -E -a
Push return and type your password.
That'll erase and rebuild the spotlight indexes.

After getting my graphics card fixed at Robert Harding (thanks for the help
Sam), Spotlight seems to not be working. I can pull it up using the
command-space keystrokes, type in what I want to find, then it freezes.
Sometimes it will find whatever I am looking for but it will not open from the
spotlight bar, if i move the cursor over the bar I get the spinning beachball
of doom. Then it vanishes...
It doesn't appear to be indexing. I'm not sure what to do about it. Any
bright ideas?
Thanks.
