You’d need a heat gun  to melt the glue yes, I’ve done it many many times (a 
lot of clumsy people out there). Is it just the LCD or is the glass smashed 
too? To replace just the LCD also requires full disassembly of the laptop as 
you need to unhook the LCD cable which runs through the display hinge.
