Hi Gilly

Having an SSD installed is something you won't regret. Sam did it for my neighbour and it was like having a new computer. My MBP is SSD anyway (I used to have an older Mac Pro) and its silent and very fast. I had no issues upgrading to El Cap but held off until March this year so I didn't catch the early bugs.

I think Sparrow is great and I've never found anything else like it. We use it to keep an eye on our mail queues without actually reading things into PostBox on the computers. Often we'll read/delete or read and sometimes do a quick reply from it. Preferable to reading everything into PostBox and then deleting a lot of it. We bought it from the App Store (and the latest is 1.6.4) but its not there now. Sadly Google acquired the company and promptly ceased product development (except bug fixes). They bought out InBox but that's for GMail only and is iOS only. Not sure where you'd get Sparrow from now.

Regards, Graham

Thank you so much, Graham. That’s really helpful to know. I am obviously being pushed towards either buying a new iMac, or having an SSD installed by Sam and then upgrading to El Capitan. I’ll have to have a think about that!

By the way, how do you like Sparrow? (After all these years, I still miss Eudora and am always on the lookout for something like it).

Gilly

Just realised you said OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). I don’t think it supports the Magic Mouse. I recall that I held off buying one (as I was in the US) until I was back in the UK and could upgrade to El Capitan in a controlled way. I think this link proves it - https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7283052?tstart=0

Yes, I have done that, Graham, but no sign of any scrolling option. Many thanks all the same.

Check 'System Preferences' and ‘Mouse’ in case nothing’s set for scrolling?
