It’s a learning process, so if you (for example) type “Alan” and the iPad’s 
about to replace it with “ALAN”, there should be a bar of suggested words with 
“Alan” in it, tap on “Alan” and after a few incidents of that happening it 
should learn.

You can also type “Alan”, tap on space and it replaces with “ALAN”, then tap 
delete once, “Alan” will appear above in a black bubble, tap on that and it’ll 
replace “ALAN” with “Alan” and also eventually learn that “ALAN” is a mistaken 
replacement.
