Hi, I have two G-tech 1TB usb2 hard drives which I use to store data on, (Predominantly E books.) one is the master, the other is a Carbon Copy Cloner, clone.
I have been using both on my iMac for a couple of years without issue, however, when I tried to use them tonight, neither will work, in as much as they connect initially and show up in finder, but then almost immediately they disconnect and I get the “ Drive not disconnected properly” message. I tried alternative USB ports and cables, but this makes no difference, I suspected the drives but could not understand how / why both drives could fail simultaneously, so I connected them to my wife’s MacBook Pro, and this machine reads them without issue. Both computers are running High Sierra. Any ideas what is wrong here and how I can get the iMac to load these drives once more? Thanks, Steve.
