Try the following (in order) and check if the issue’s sorted after each : 

PRAM reset : Start up the Mac holding alt+cmd+P+R until hear the startup chime 
a second time, then let go 
SMC reset : When the Mac is off, hold down shift+ctrl+alt and push/release the 
power button once, then left go of the other keys. Wait 10 seconds then start 
up again 
Safe boot : Start up holding shift, let go when the Apple logo appears, wait 
for the Mac to start up normally, restart the Mac normally straight away
Reinstall macOS : Start up holding cmd+R, let go when the Apple logo appears, 
choose a language then select to reinstall a copy of macOS
