I gave my iMac a name (let's pretend it was Bruce) Recently I noticed that in Finder that this name was being changed by the addition of a number in brackets. Tonight it has become Bruce (9). Can someone explain what's going on? I have a vague memory of this topic being broached before on the SMUG, but can't find it. What function or app is doing this? Is it something to do with the network? How can I stop this process?
