We're in the same boat, and must say that Apple Displays are lovely and 
often on GumTree and eBay. They're pricier, but look great. Failing that, 
Black Friday and Cyber Monday will likely mean a decent LG screen at Currys 
will be even cheaper.

As for the Mac Mini - I just wonder if buying the previous gen. model will 
suffice? They're pretty old, and you'll need an SSD to ensure they keep 
running macOS releases for a few more years to come.

But, they've beefed up the spec and it's no longer quite the 'introductory' 
price it once was....
