I don’t think you can multitask like that in one mail app. It will only work in an iPad Pro I think. I suppose you could have two email programs running in split screen, say Mail and Edison, but that would seem to be a bit daft rather than a solution. I don’t know if any of the apps available run in “panes”, separate columns.
