Thanks Sam and Toby. Left it overnight, and that certainly has helped, probably moved about 15% further along. Will do that again tonight, and very likely tomorrow night too!
Hopefully it won't have a hit on performance, else I'll decrypt it. As for TimeMachine backups.... if I backup once it's encrypted, and then choose to decrypt and then backup, is TimeMachine ok with that?!
