I have lost music through iTunes over the years, it's not a safe
place. Either pay for Music Match (and check they upload) or make
copies somewhere else. I still routinely discover all but one track
of an album gone, but there it is in my archives, no idea how they
all got deleted.
I would back those precious songs up somewhere else (even just
another folder on the hard drive) then try transferring them to the
phone via iTunes.
