One time, after having no problems, I plugged the headphones into my iPod touch and heard absolutely nothing. I assumed the worst, then, either a search online or a query on here suggested checking for fluff in the jack socket. After rummaging with a cocktail stick (I think) I found a large lump of fluff and ... headphones were working perfectly again.
We had to reset our new router/wireless the other day after which I tried to use our Airport Express in the lounge to play music via Airplay through the stereo. Silence. I thought “Oh dear, resetting the router has totally confused it. I’m going to have to reset the AE, connect it with Ethernet to the router, then set it up all over again”. Grim. Then, just when I was about to take it upstairs to do all that I noticed that the audio cable, which should run from the hifi to the AE, was actually plugged into the back of the monitor in the lounge! I reconnected and it all worked fine! What a plonker... It’s so easy to overlook the simple things and assume the worst (and more expensive).
