Thanks for your reply Paul. Trawled through support on Apple and on Macrumours; 
nothing really so I restarted MBA and iPhone and that has done the trick. 
Didn’t expect to have to go to that length.
On the whole Big Sur seems fine to me. Just waiting for Superduper to be 
capable of a bootable backup.
