Unpatched vulnerabilities? They don't sound very reassuring?!?!

It's the 27" version, so maybe I could try simply updating, and if it 
crawls, go for external SSD if required..... I presume the latter is as 
"easy as it sounds" with migrating all content to a bootable version of 
macOS on there?!
