Thanks Jason. I have found that the "Application not supported" notice only appears on the iPad (not on my iMac). Also, it only appears when I first open the iPad from sleep, when there is absolutely no application open. Then I have to close it down again to stop the wretched thing flashing on each time I touch it to turn it off. That seems to work, though it is a nuisance having to close it each time I start it!
I am pretty sure there is no utility trying to launch, but I don't know how to find out for certain. I have decided to try phoning Apple (in Dublin), which I will do after the weekend.
