I really did laugh. The number of times this has happened to me...!

Sam, I simply do not believe it. Having harassed me for weeks, the
dreaded “This application ...” has not appeared once today. Just
when I was getting ready to photograph it for you! Maybe tomorrow. Or
maybe the mere mention of your name has scared it off forever!
Thanks so much, Sam. I may get back to you tomorrow.

Hi Gilly
Can you take a screenshot of the error and send it here? Press the
power and volume up buttons together to take a screenshot (or home
button and power together if your iPad has a home button)

Thanks Jason.
I have found that the "Application not supported" notice only appears
on the iPad (not on my iMac). Also, it only appears when I first open
the iPad from sleep, when there is absolutely no application open.
Then I have to close it down again to stop the wretched thing
flashing on each time I touch it to turn it off. That seems to work,
though it is a nuisance having to close it each time I start it!
I am pretty sure there is no utility trying to launch, but I don't
know how to find out for certain. I have decided to try phoning Apple
(in Dublin), which I will do after the weekend. I'll let you know how
I get on.
Meanwhile, thank you for being willing to help.

Yes, I have turned the iPad off and on again, several times. In fact,
I have to do that to stop the notice popping up.
To tackle this one first, it sounds as if turning it on and off fixes
it for a while? Have you noticed a pattern with what you did before
it started?
I wonder if it's some utility like TextExpander which is trying to
launch. The best clue is 'whatever you just did' so if it happens
again, let us know what that is. You should only get that error when
you actually try to launch something that is too old to run so it's
odd that it keeps coming up, apparently launching itself.
Cheers,
Jason
