Hi folks,
My Mac mini M1 was due to update to 13.1 so I made sure TM was up to
date and set it off. That was yesterday afternoon.
The progress bar got to about 2/3rds then stuck for several hours so in
the end I booted from Recovery, which recognised no users. The only way
forward was reinstall and it only offered me Monteroy so I erased,
reinstall,d and ran the Migration process. That was ok.
So I tried again and the progress bar is once again stuck. Now it's
vanished entirely and I have a black screen. The pointer responds
(slowly and jaggedly) to movement.
Clearly it dislikes something I have installed (TeX perhaps? That
happened once before).
Do the wise elders of SMUG suspect it is ticking over invisibly or am I
back to erasing and reinstalling the OS? My best guess for next steps is
to not migrate my files, install Monteroy, update to 13.1 and *then* try
migrating.
Anyone else got any other ideas? I don't have a clone start-up these
days because I don't have the right hardware (I actually do have a clone
of the original OS on a USB drive but it simply refused to start from
that, wouldn't let me set it as Start-up disk. It had worked in the past
so not sure what happened there).
Cheers,
Jason
