Thanks, Jason. Yes, it worked. And I'll turn it off in future as you say. It just seems odd to me that the benefits of HEIC as you say, aren't much use when trying to sync all threads across all devices - which sort of seems the point - especially when Photos App can recognise the files too.
But I'm no developer, so doubtless it's not simple!
