If you copy an item in Finder, then open a new TextEdit file and set it to PlainText, pasting into that should just paste the file path but it won’t be a clickable link. I don’t think Finder supports it anymore
Hi Smuggers,
-- In a lot of apps, there is a menu item under Edit 'Copy Item Link' or 'Copy as link'. This creates a URL for the file which will launch it from another app. Eg in Mailmate, Copy as Link means I can put the URL in a mindmap, and when I click on it, it opens that specific email in Mailmate. The Finder did briefly have this, years ago, when it was introduced, but then it vanished. I often want to collate things without copying them (by drag/drop or copy/paste) and have never found a way to do it back to Finder. Does anyone know how to do this? Bonus points if it's really painfully obvious... Cheers, Jason -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Sussex Mac User Group" group.
