Wouldn't it be a good idea to add an upper limit on the dependency
version,   perhaps directory-tree >= 0.1 && < 0.10 ?

Personally,  I think it would be nice if hackage supported tweaking
dependencies on a package without introducing a new version number,
but... c'est la vie.
