Some interfaces are autoconnecting (as you can see here, network, network-bind, unity7, x11. Some aren't (like home). We are revisiting the home interface to get it autoconnected for now until we have a great visual interfaces to prompt users about unconnected plugs/slots and ask their permissions to do this connection. This is a security feature, and why we have finer grain security in snaps than traditional packaging system, where the package has access to everything right away.
