We already have some mpv in the snappy playpen, do you mind contributing your enhancements there? (https://github.com/ubuntu/snappy-playpen/tree/master/mpv) I think that indeed those media interfaces are only available in classic ubuntu for now, but they will surely be available on any capable ubuntu core device once we start having series 16 images.
