Very simple, because we didn't deserve it to begin with. That's why we're saved only by the grace of God.....because it's without merit. And  the reason we're not hit by a bolt of lightening when we sin, because His mercy endures forever.....
 
It truly is "amazing" grace when you think about it....wretched and undeserveing...if we got what we deserved, we would all be  in the hot place more than likely....thank GOD for His grace! :)
 
The term "grace" has nothing to do with whether you can lose it or not, but it has everything to do with the fact that we are totally undeserving of salvation....and that we are saved only by His grace.

thats in proverbs and they are talking about how one bad thing can smudge up your reputation.  

but if you can lose it why is it called grace?
