STUDENT DIES FROM ALLERGY TO FISH
A 20-year-old New York student attending college in Miami died from a allergic reaction to shellfish. Faith Floridia, a third-year dance student at New World School of the Arts, slipped into anaphylactic shock within minutes of tasting a seafood dish at the diner where she worked, reports Long Island's Newsday. According to co-workers at the Gables Diner, Floridia was one of several employees to sample a new menu item - codfish with shrimp and crabmeat stuffing, Newsday says. Minutes later she had trouble breathing. Doctors say people occasionally have allergic reactions to foods they had eaten before without negative consequences. Greg Hopper
