Yes, Iran and Russia do indeed have a defense pact, it
was signed in 1991.
In February 1991 a pact was made between Russia and
Iran. The most salient points in
the pact are these:
1)Russia would supply Iran with materials and experts to
develop a nuclear program.
2)Iran would not encourage an Islamic revival in the
former soviet republics (Beth Togomora).
3)Russia agreed to fight *alongside* Iran against the
western nations in the event of war.
Ezekiel seems to indicate that greed is an underlying
motive, but the "hook in the mouth" gives the impression that the Russian (Gog)
force is dragged into the conflict. The greed motive could be after the
fact. For example, we didn't want to do it, but since we are we may as
well make a profit.
