Priest Mugged Twice This Year

A New York City priest, mugged twice this year, has forgiven his attackers. The Rev. Robert Trainor says he was in St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church in the Bronx on Saturday when a man asked to have his confession heard, but then abruptly demanded cash. Trainor says he dropped a $20 bill on the church floor and ran out of the building, but the assailant allegedly chased after him and hit the 72-year-old priest with a metal rod. "I forgive the poor fellow. I don't think he did it with a lot of malice," Trainor tells the Post. "It looked like he made the decision at the last minute when he saw the empty church."
