Luis we hardly knew ye.

Fox has officially canned its Luis Guzman laffer Luis, which aired just four times to disappointing ratings.

For now, the Friday night slot will be filled by double episodes of Wanda at Large followed by Boston Public at 9 p.m. Starting November 14, the net will air movies on Friday nights for the next three weeks.

The sitcom has the dubious honor of being the first new show to be canceled this fall--though NBC's Coupling may have the distinction of being the first new series banished to indefinite hiatus (network speak for canceled).

Also on the freshman chopping block: UPN's The Mullets and CBS' Brotherhood of Poland, New Hampshire. While both low-rated series are unlikely to return after sweeps, Industry watchers say it's not impossible the shows get orders for additional episodes.

Popping the champagne corks are producers of CBS' new series Joan of Arcadia, Two and a Half Men, Navy NCIS, Cold Case and The Handler, all of which got full season orders.

NBC had already announced its pickup order for Las Vegas, Miss Match, Whoopi and Happy Family, while ABC ordered four more scripts each of Hope & Faith, I'm with Her, It's All Relative and Married to the Kellys.

Holding on to the Charlie Sheen- and Jon Cryer-starrer Two and a Half Men was a no-brainer for the Eye network as it's the most-watched new show of the season, attracting an average 15.9 million viewers a week and retaining 85 percent of its Everybody Loves Raymond lead-in.

(The good news also breaks Cryer's disasterous TV streak since 1989's The Famous Teddy Z--anyone remember Partners, Getting Personal or The Trouble with Normal? Exactly.)

Jerry Bruckheimer's Cold Case and JAG spinoff Navy NCIS have also bowed with strong ratings, while Joan of Arcadia has pulled some of the season's best reviews and regularly won its Friday night timeslot. The Handler, which has faced competition from baseball and Law & Order: SVU, was the only wild card.
