For real.  Guess people are smarter now??  Maybe these people now days know more about what is constitutional and what is not? I doubt it.

You know, when I went to school we had Christmas break and Easter break.  No one died.  No one self-combusted, and life went on.  My parents had the same names for the holidays, as did my grandparents.  So why was it perfectly constitutional and even acceptable in 1950 and 1980, but in 2003 it's all of a sudden a great big problem.  This concentrated attempt to take religious _expression_ completely out of public life is going to come back and bite this nation in the butt.

Calendar Conundrum

School officials in Sarasota County, Fla., are pushing a new all-secular holiday calendar for district schools in order to avoid appearing insensitive to people of certain faiths, reports the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Because of the diversity of faiths in the community, recognizing the holy days of all religions would put the school system in a bind so school officials have opted to get rid of 'em all.

The latest to go is the traditional Good Friday holiday. Earlier, the school calendar changed the name of the Christmas vacation to "winter break."
