"Alias": 2nd Season on DVD
You think your family has issues? Sydney Bristow's (the lovely Jennifer
Garner) clan doesn't just deal with malice, murder, and mayhem--it's
their specialty. In the second season of the Emmy-award winning show,
Sydney's mother, played by Lena Olin, resurfaces to challenge Sydney's
conceptions of loyalty and betrayal and no one is what they seem when
Sydney goes undercover to overturn SD-6 and takes on the "evil" Francie.

deleted scenes, a gag reel, select episode commentary, a featurette

IMDb MOVIE OF THE DAY
For a while there, Kevin Williamson and Robert Rodriguez were twin
engines powering the Miramax/Dimension Films machine. And under their
care, The Faculty, a completely low-brow and derivative sci-fi/comedy,
sprang to life. Williamson, who was originally slated to helm the
picture (until the Weinsteins put him to work on Scream 2), whipped up a
screenplay that borrowed liberally from wildly divergent sources
(Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Breakfast Club); Rodriquez then
assembled a teen-dream cast that buffed out said screenplay's dings and
cracks. As creepy-crawly aliens begin their takeover of the faculty at
Herrington High in small-town Ohio, an offbeat group of students band
together as the only people aware of the weirdness afoot. The bad boy
(Josh Hartnett), the school hotties (Jordana Brewster and Laura Harris),
the jock (Shawn Hatosy), the bad girl (Clea DuVall) and the brain
(Elijah Wood) trade punches and snappy one-liners with some of their
newly-infected administrators (Bebe Newirth, Jon Stewart, Salma Hayek,
Famke Janssen and Robert Patrick) in an effort to restore normalcy to
their sleepy little town. Criticized by many for adding nothing new to
either the sci-fi or teen-ensemble genre, The Faculty's pleasures derive
from its crackling dialogue, low-budget effects and fab cast, all of
whom are aware that they are in a B-movie. And you have to give them
snaps for not setting the film up for any sequels, which is odd when you
consider that it's the only non-franchise picture that Rodriguez has
directed to date (no one counts Four Rooms, not even Madonna). - Arno
